Sindupalchok

Monsoon is setting in. Everyone is eager to set up more durable shelters before the onset of heavy rains. We were also finally ready. Necessary approvals from pertinent authorities were in place. The 26 gauge corrugated zinc sheets that we ordered were finally delivered.

This would be our major outreach relief to 11 remote villages in Sindupalchok for the monsoon. We expect to benefit 1,432 families, 7 community schools and 3 community Buddhist temples.

The relief would be conducted in 3 phases. First in the VDCs of Mankha and Phulping Dandaguan. Second in Phulpingkot Duskot VDC Ward nos. 6,7,8 and 9. Third in Phulpingkot Duskot VDC Ward nos. 1,2,3,4 and 5.

Aftershocks, landslides and rain have continued to batter Sindupalchok. The main road leading to the villages was in very bad shape. Repairs after repairs were damaged. Young and able men of Phulpingkot Duskot’s Youth Club in coordination with our local organizer Mr. Ram Bahadur Lama stood by to ‘build’ a way for each relief truck and vehicle travelling up the steel and slippery road. We say “Thank You to all the good, young men of Phulpingkot Duskot!”

July 5: We set out on the first phase of our relief. It was an overcast, grey and wet morning. But the people were waiting. They greeted us with joy!

In Mankha VDC, we distributed sheets to 128 families and the Shree Betrawadi Primary School.

Next was Phulping Dandaguan. We distributed to 160 families and to its community school, Shree Jalpadevi Higher Secondary School of Binjal.

It was late afternoon by the time we finished. We travelled on to Phulpingkot Duskot for the night.
